The Board of JJ Fox International Limited (The “Holding Company” of the Fox Group)
Ronald Fox has been a director of JJ Fox International Limited since it was purchased by the family from A H Copp in 1968. He is now its non-executive Chairman. Ron is also the Chairman of a sister business in Ireland, TDL Holdings Limited, and was its Managing Director for many years. Ron’s sons, Robert, who is an executive with TDL in Ireland, and Stuart, who is an executive with Fox in the Channel Islands, represent the fifth generation of the family to be involved in the business.
Group Managing Director
Stuart Fox graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a B.A. (hons.) Degree in Economics and Geography in 1994, before joining the Citicorp Group in Dublin later that year. Stuart worked in Agency Treasury Management gaining promotion to manager in 1998 specialising in foreign exchange hedging. He left the bank later that year and moved to Jersey where he joined JJ Fox International Limited, becoming its company secretary in 2000, a Director of the Board in 2001, and it’s Group Managing Director in 2007. He chairs the boards of all the subsidiary companies in the Fox Group.
Group Finance Director & Company Secretary
Rafe Woolf graduated from Managerial and Administrative studies at Aston University in 1984. He joined Coopers & Lybrand and qualified as a chartered accountant in 1987 and thereafter pursued a career outside the profession which included 12 years as Group Finance Director at Abacus Financial Services followed by three years as the Finance Director, and latterly as acting Managing Director, of the Waterfront Enterprise Board. Rafe joined the board of JJ Fox International Limited as its Group Finance Director & Company Secretary in 2007 and, in addition to that on-going role, has recently been appointed as the Managing Director of the Fox Property business.
Robert Fox graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a B.A. (hons.) Degree in Economics and Geography in 1996 and completed a part time International Executive MBA at the Michael Smurfit School of Business in 1997. After a brief IT project with Anderson Consulting Rob joined TDL Distributors Limited, part of the Fox family business in Ireland, in 1997. He was appointed to the Board of that business in 2002 and became its Managing Director in 2007, and was appointed to the Board of JJ Fox International Limited as a Director in the same year. Rob plays important roles in the family’s retail cigar interests in Dublin and London, and sits on the management team and Boards of the retail companies in both jurisdictions.
Mike Ormsby joined Fox in 1982, as the Sales and Marketing Director of the Fox Trading business, until 2004 when he retired and became its non-executive Chairman. He has also been a Director of the main Board of JJ Fox International Limited for much of that time. Mike has some 42 years experience in the tobacco business, firstly with Rothmans in the UK, and then the Channel Islands before joining Fox where he transformed the market share of our tobacco brands, and therefore the profitability of our Trading business, in the market.
Paul Sands achieved a B.Sc.(Hons.) 1st. Class degree in Engineering Production from Birmingham University in 1971 and began his career with Cadbury Schweppes PLC in that year, advancing through the management structure rapidly before being appointed to the Board of Cadbury Typhoo Limited in 1983. In 1986 the directors of Cadbury Typhoo successfully completed a management buy-out of the Company from its parent, Cadbury Schweppes PLC the largest buy-out in the UK at the time. The new private company was called Premier Brands Limited and the majority of the equity was owned by its directors. In 1989 Premier Brands was sold to Hillsdown Holdings PLC. Paul retired from Hillsdown in 1990 and moved to Jersey in 1992 where he has been Director, Secretary, adviser and administrator of his own private investment company since. Paul became a non-executive Director of Fox Trading Limited in 2009.
